Wednesday
Goals:
- students articulate that compound meter is shown using division, not beat
- ID meter looking at real music
- Beam according to the beat
Lesson Plan:
Go over homework, especially the chart--have students teach each other how they got to each answer (probably don’t collect–If you take WB 4.2 I and IIA homework they’ll need it back before the weekend, homework WB 4.2 IIB due Monday, Also part of 4.3 due Friday)
go through Bach WTC and ID meter (simple/compound, duple/triple/quadruple) and explain why, then what the beat unit is, what the meter signature is, ID division and subdivision, etc.

end with something compound in 6/4 or 12/8, so that you can show how subdivisions are grouped together in compound
Beaming: like you did in simple meter, do both methods
put box around what will go into a beat, then rewrite
also figure out by writing out all of the subdivisions per beat and doing ties etc.
